LAKE OUIOUANE




Ouiouane is a lake located in the province of Khénifra in Morocco, in 34 km of rirt Me on the road of Aïn Leuh (co-ordinates : 33 ° 08’ N 05 ° 21’ W). It is about a lake of artificial origin, fed by neighbouring sources, this lake is in 1600 m of altitude and stretches over a 40 hectare area.This region goes connaitre an economic development because of the road facilities due to the building of the hydroelectric dam of Tanafnit-Elbordj.This man-made lake is to consider inside a karstic complex composing, besides lake Ouiouane, Aguelmame not Harcha (small marsh rich in vegetation, fed by small limnocrènes sources) and the Aguelmame Ou Houli (small lake in the bottom of depression). Semi-artificial wetland of 40 hectares, rather shallow (14 m) and relatively silted up. The level of water is raised with the aid of a dam there. Waters eutrophes and rich in aquatic vegetation : Potamogeton pectinatus, Myriophyllum spicatum and from Chara sp.The silting-up allows by places the development of important Typhaies and Phragmitaies. The mountainsides of the lake are wooded or covered with holm oaks and cultures are only in his downstream part.
