Argan oil comes from the argan tree endemic of Morocco, present mainly in the south-west of Morocco, between Agadir, Essaouira and Taroudant. It is widely used in traditional cuisine of this region.




Rich in vitamin E, antioxidants, it is also used for its cosmetic properties. In 2010, this oil is in fashion and demand blew prices. Scams are common, and many products so-called "argan oil" in no or very few contain.










There are two kinds of argan oil as the kernels are roasted or not before use. The darker edible oil, and more pronounced because of the roasting taste, is used as a regular oil for food preparation, but should not be brought to a high temperature. It is very nutritious and is with crushed almonds and honey amlou a very nourishing paste often consumed at breakfast.


The cosmetic oil, lighter, used in application to the skin and hair and have the virtues against hair loss, eczema, skin dehydration. Charrouf researcher specializing in organic chemistry at the University of Rabat, has contributed significantly to the scientific knowledge of the oil and other byproducts of the argan tree.  The Centre (IDRC International Development Research, a Canadian Crown corporation), it has also worked to establish the country's first co-processing argan oil, run entirely by women.

For massages

Argan oil relieves joint pain and is very popular for body massages. It can be used like any other massage oils and can be scented. Simply add a few drops of essential oil of your choice. It brings the same time other properties.

Strengthens hair

Argan oil strengthens the scalp, adds shine to hair while restoring its natural softness and silky. It also recommends its use to counter dandruff or hair loss.
To reinvigorate the fragile hair, apply argan oil from root to tip, gently brush the hair to distribute the product, wrap hair in a warm towel and let stand about 20 minutes, wash with a normal shampoo and rinse. Can reduce the sleep time by heating the hair retained in the towel with a dryer.
To protect the hair from the drying effects of sun bathing or sea and chlorine use styling touches by applying oil or place a small amount of argan oil on her hairbrush before styling.

Strengthens brittle nails

Like skin, nails deteriorate, wither and break with cold water, detergent, etc.. Argan oil can help to nourish and fortify.
Once a week, soak cleaned and varnished nails about 20 minutes in a mixture of equal parts lemon juice and argan oil, then wash your hands with mild soap. If the nails are brittle, repeat the process daily. We can reuse the preparation, simply pour into a clean, dry flask, where it will keep for a week. For a deep restorative treatment, the mixture cool in a water bath.
To whiten nails, it passes over a piece of cotton soaked in a few drops of lemon juice and orange blossom water.

* A Argan produced annually from 10 to 30 kg of fruit (affiaches), and it takes about 38 kg (or 2.6 kg of kernels) to produce one liter of oil.
* The majority of the production of argan oil passes through women's cooperatives. These women come together to be better organized and to ensure a fair income. They provide the same time maintaining an old tradition: the production of argan oil craft pressed by hand.
* Approximately 2,000 people work in Moroccan cooperatives devoted to argan oil. Annual production is around 2500 to 4000 tons.
